A new review of Southern Imagining is featured in the September 2026 issue of the Australian Book Review. In it, Elizabeth Leane, Professor of Antarctic Studies in the School of Humanities at the University of Tasmania, calls the book “a graceful, powerful weaving together of literary engagements with the south across five centuries and 360 degrees of latitude.”
The review goes on to note that “Boehmer’s ambitious goal – and her great achievement – is to understand what culturally connects these otherwise very different southern locales, both for those living there and for those imagining them from afar.”
